Culture of Peace in School with NVC

Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

About the film project "Behind every action there is a need".

The film is divided into 5 smaller films and is based on the idea that conflicts are inevitable - and they can also be the foundation for development of social and personal skills - if we are able to get closer and focus on the needs behind the conflict. The films presents tools to understand and face a conflict by describing facts, feelings and needs and asking for a specific action. NVC (Nonviolent Communication) is an universal tool box you can use to solve conflicts and restore trust.

The film is produced for The LIVKOM Association by Filmkompagniet in Aarhus, Denmark, and is sponsored by the Danish Ministry of Education. The film is in Danish and is available with subtitles in multiple languages.

In the films the teachers use flash cards with feelings and needs from the book Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids by Sura Hart and Victoria Kindle Hodson.

You can download the materials and watch the films for FREE with subtitles in multiple languages. Click on the corresponding language in the menu on the left.

Versions in Norwegian, Portuguese and Spanish are in the making and versions in new languages will be added as they become available.

"Postpone result/solution thinking until later; it's through connection that solutions materialize - empathy before education."
